Buff

Buff was established in 1992 by Joan Rojas in Spain who developed a multifunctional seamless fabric tube as a warmer, more protective solution to the sun, wind, and cold while touring the country roads of Catalonia on his motorcycle. Buff headwear, which is a tube of microfibrous fabric, can be worn as a scarf, bandanna, headband, beanie, face mask, tube top, helmet liner, wristband, cap, pirate, Sahara style and other variations. The manufacturing process takes place on a specially developed tubular loom to make the finished garment seamless.

ACT, PROTECT, CARE and DO MORE NOW - Why Buff is right for Hardcloud

BUFF® hold true to the fact that "We are not apart from nature, but a part of it" which is why they are as a summit member of EOCA, a partnership going back more than 10 years.

In 2011, their first year of partnership, BUFF® became EOCA’s first Conservation Champion after donating 1% of the proceeds from their Merino Wool products to fund three key EOCA projects; promoting sustainable tourism in Iceland, contributing to the conservation of the Snowdonia National Park in Wales and protecting the woodlands and endangered red squirrel population in England’s Lake District.

Actions speak loudly, so hear Buff roar!

BUFF® are commited to reducing their environmental impact as much as they can.  They have used 100% renewable energy for a long time but in 2021 they installed 1000+ solar panels on the rooftop of their Igualada headquarters to further reduce their long term environmental impact.

Not only do they make products to protect us from the sun, they now harness it's power producing 30% of the energy they use and the remaining 70% of their energy needs are provided exclusively from renewable energy sources.

We think that's a true commitment to improving sustainability!

BUFF® harnesses the power of water using a Catalan watermill to produce some of the yarns that make their Original EcoStretch Multifunctional Neckwear.  Protecting, preserving and cherishing the earth’s natural resources, BUFF® still use the same buildings that were constructed in the late 1800s to take advantage of the waterfall and old flour mill of the Casa Grande de Cal Riera, now home to the Filats Gonfaus spinning mill. Keeping the BUFF® commitment to 100% renewable energy sources, Filats Gonfaus use hydropower when producing yarns for BUFF®. In the last year alone the mill has supplied BUFF® with 90,000 kilograms of yarn used to make 2.3 million units of the Original EcoStretch Multifunctional Neckwear.

BUFF® is partnered with REPREVE® and now every Original EcoStretch Multifunctional Neckwear piece is made from 95% recycled fabric, that's the equivalent of 2 plastic bottles around your neck. BUFF® have used over 23 million recycled plastic bottles in there products so far to reduce their environmental impact.

Compared to virgin fibre, Repreve® helps to offset the use of petroleum, emitting fewer greenhouse gases and conserving water and energy in the process.
